Open Source and Self Hosted alternatives that the world is searching for, in 2022
Are there other non obvious opportunities for builders in 2022? Here are my findings
I've often been in awe of the simplicity of how YC startup like Signoz or SuperTokens or others like Ghost have been able to get to 5000+ stars on Github. Some of the traits of these projects include:
- simple value proposition
- are an underdog, showcasing how they are more beneficial from some large expensive alternatives (many of whom are public companies)
- for the average HN lurker - in retrospect seems like a very obvious idea
- great documentation and grind it out for several years before being an overnight success
